Our first trip to the West Coast of Canada together
A year before we got married, my wife Sam and I took a trip to Vancouver to take in the beautiful scenery on the West Coast of Canada. It feels like a whole other world out there, especially coming from Southwestern Ontario; the scale of the trees and the mountains was something we're really not used to.
We arrived in the middle of wildfire season, where we could see the sections of forest on fire on our descent into YVR, which was kind of crazy. We weren't ready for the blanket of smoke for the first few days we were there that had a haze over everything. It made for some cool looking photos, but it was a struggle those days to not get winded by the air quality (something we've now been experiencing more frequently in Ontario too unfortunately).
The smoke eventually cleared up later in our trip which made some of the hikes we took more bearable (definitely no shortage on outdoor activities out there) and we were able to explore more, like spending a day in Chilliwack.
The random thing that was the most striking of the entire trip were the trees in BC. Kind of like my recent blog and gallery about the Grand Canyon, until you see these trees in person, you can't appreciate the scale of them. We remember coming back home and driving on the 401 and the trees in Ontario just we're not impressive at all.
We can't wait to go back. It's already been 3 years now since we've taken this trip but it's high on our list of places to revisit asap. Hope you enjoy the gallery and thanks for making it this far. See ya in the next one!
